Sayyid Allama Majiddeen b. Muhammad b. Mansuur al-Muayyadi

- Born 26 Sha’ban 1332 AH in Radma. Died 6 Ramadan 1428.

- Was a Hasani Sayyid on his father side and a Husseini sayyid on his mother side.

- Was a Reference (Marji’) for contemporary scholars and the former mufti of Yemen.

- Was a man of letters, poet and historian.

- Spent his life constantly engaged in instruction as well as editing and transmitting texts.

- Reached the highest level in the sacred sciences and narrated many of the Zaydi texts we have available today.

- Headed the Hizb al-Haqq party in Yemen. The party’s main agenda is the preservation of Zaydi culture and madhhab.

- Authored many texts. Some of them include the following:
1. Lawaami al-Anwaar—his magnum opus. It was published in three volumes in 1413 AH. In it, he lists the chains of narrations of most Zaydi texts from their authors to himself. He also includes the biographies of Zaydi authors, addresses questions and ends the text with the biographies of the Companions.
2. Sharh Tuhf az-Zalaf—a commentary of a biographies of the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (as) from Imam Zayd (as) to his time.
3. ‘Uyuun al-Fanuun—responses to questions by Imam Abdullah bin Hamza (as) from his text, Ash-Shaafi’
4. Al-Jaami’ al-Muhimma fi asaaniid al-A’imma—the chains of texts’ transmissions from himself to the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (as).
5. Al-Minhaj al-Aqwam fi ar-Rafa’ wa ad-Damm—a text discussing the jurisprudence related to raising and tying the arms in the ritual prayer.
6. Kitaab al-Hajj wa al-Umra—the rituals of Hajj and Umra.
7. Kitaab ash-Shihaab at-Thaaqib—a refutation of Muhammad b. Ali al-Akwa
8. Al-Jawaabat al-Muhimma—responses to questions
9. Al-Balaagh an-Naahi—deals with the issue of the prohibition of music.
10. Fasl al-Khataab—a text discussing the principle of placing narrated traditions against the Qur’an to judge their authenticity.
11. Majmu al-Fawaa’id—a collection of researches, treatises, fatawa, refutations and responses.
12. Diwan Hikma—a collection of poetry
13. Al-Mukhtaar min ‘Uyuun—a collection of poetry and narrated traditions.
14. An-Nasiim al-Alawi—a biography of his father Imam Muhammad b. al-Mansuur al-Muayyadi.

- His funeral was attended by the then president Abdullah Salih as well as scholars of all madhhabs.
