If you say that the Qur’ân is created, what is the explanation of the hadîth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny: ((I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evil that He created))? How can the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny, seek refuge in something that is created?

It is possible that what is intended is seeking refuge in the virtue of the complete words of Allah. It is similar to seeking intermediated requests through the prophets, Qur’ân, angels, and righteous imams. This is permissible according to us.

Another possibility is seeking refuge in the position of the complete words of Allah. It is similar to [the Prophet], peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny: ((O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your person, and I seek refuge in Your exemption from Your punishment))—Ibn Mâjah #1179. (Allama ‘Abdullah ad-Daylami).
