- Was a scholar of independent judgement (mujtahid) and ascetic

- Born 17 Jumaada al-Awla 1345 AH. Died 18 Dhul-Hijjah 1431.

- Grew up in Dhahyaan.

- Took knowledge of the sacred sciences from the scholars of Dhahyaan until he became an imam of knowledge.

- Advanced in many sciences, especially the fundamentals of the religion (aqeeda) and the studies of hadith sciences.

- Authored a number of beneficial texts and treatises, some of which include:

1. Al-Ijaaz fi ar-Radd ‘ala fataawa al-Hijaaz—a refutation of the Wahaabi fatwa blaspheming the Zaydis.
2. Al-Ghaarat as-Sar’iya—a refutation of various charges against the Zaydis.
3. Tahriir al-Afkaar—a refutation of the Salafi scholar Muqbil al-Waadi.
4. Tahdhiir min Furqa—caution against sectarianism.
5. Al Muhammad laysu kulli al-Ummah—a text differentiating the Family of the Prophet from the Ummah of the Prophet.
6. Ahaadiith al-Mukhtaar—selected narrated traditions related about the virtues of Ahl al-Bayt.
7. Irshaad as-Saa’il—discussion of various issues
8. Irshaad at-Taalib—answers the question as to which is the best madhhab.
9. Idhaah al-Mualim—discusses the use of amulets and talismans.
10. Bayaan al-Burhaan—discussion using the Quran to prove that the wrongdoers will remain in Hell forever.
11. Tabyiin fi ad-Damm wa Ta´miin—text discussing the prayer with folded arms and the recitation of "Ameen" after al-Faatiha in the prayer
12. At-Taysiir fi at-Tafsiir—a complete exegesis of the Quran
13. Az-Zaydiya fi al-Yaman—the history of the Zaydi madhhab in Yemen.
14. As-Saham ath-Thaaqib—a refutation of those who hate the Ahl al-Bayt (as)
15. Sharh Amaali Ahmed bin ‘Isa—commentary of the hadith text Amaali Ahmed bin ‘Isa
16. Kashful-Ghumma—a text discussing the differences of opinion in Islam
17. Man hum ar-Raafida—a text dealing with the Imami Shia sect
18. Man hum al-Wahaabiya—a text dealing with the Wahaabi sect.
19. Al-Farq bayna as-Sabb wa al-Qawl al-Haqq—title translates to “The Difference between Abuse and the Truth”
20. Az-Zuhri—a text dealing with the hadith narrator, Abu Shihaab az-Zuhri
