السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Peace and blessings of Allah SWT be upon you my brothers and sisters in Islam.

In our Zaydi Madhhab, are there any texts with descriptions of what the sword of Imam Ali (as) looked like?
Also, does it mention what was written on it?

Wa Alaikum Salam Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,

As for Dhū al-Fiqr, the name means the one with notches or divisions.
It is said to have a distinct and unique design, possibly notched or forked.

It is said Dhu al-Fiqar was named so because the back has eighteen vertebrae, as mentioned by Al-Asma‘i. ( Ref - Nasmah al-sahar bi-dhikr man tasha‘ wa shi‘r )

I have not come across anything with regards to words on it and most likely it did not contain any religious writings as during battles the sword would be stained by blood which is impure.

Allah knows best.
