as salaamu alaykum.

We just wanted to clarify the issue by citing the source that we mentioned. The name of the text by Imam Muhammad ash-Shaybani is Hujjat ala Ahl al-Madina. Below is a translation of the passage in the text that mentions the tasbih in the last two rakats:

Chapter Concerning Recitation in the Prayer
Abu Hanifa said: "The imam and the one praying alone should recite Umm al-Qur'an and another Surah in the first two units of every prayer. As for the last two units for Isha, Dhuhr and Asr and the third unit for Maghrib; if one wants one can recite al-Faatiha, one can be silent and recite nothing, or one can recite the tasbih. The recitation of al-Faatiha is preferred to us."

The People of Medina said: "The correct action according to us is that one recites the Umm al-Qur'an in the first two units and the Umm al-Qur'an in the last two units. According to us, it is not for one to recite another surah with the Umm al-Qur'an except in the first two units. One is to not recite anything but the Umm al-Qur'an in the last two units." They also said that one does not recite another surah with Umm al-Qur'an in the last two units but if one does it, it would be valid whether done intentionally or unintentionally."

Muhammad bin al-Hasan \[ash-Shaybani] said: "It has been related to us that Ali bin Abi Talib used to recite the tasbih in them (i.e. the last two units). It has also been related to us that Abu Bakr as-Sadeeq (ra) used to recite in the third unit of Maghrib the Umm-Qur'an and this verse: {Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure."} (Q. 3:8)"

Hopefully this helps! And Allah knows best!
