Is it allowed to make up stories or legends about prophets?

If we clarify that it is fictional or a legend, is it permissible to write stories about prophets?

As you know, lying is forbidden in Islam. If you write a fictional story that avoids anything haram, is beneficial, and is clearly stated as fictional, some scholars say that this is permissible. However, this does not apply to stories about the Prophets or other important historical figures. Creating fiction about them can distort their true legacy, because there will always be people who might take some of the invented details as fact. This is similar to what happened with fabricated ahadith.
