Hi, I am aware regarding the stance on this site for the mahgrib time to be the same as the jafri time. However, a reformist shia twelver scholar from the youtube channel called Al Islaah has presented multiple authentic narrations from imam Jafar al Sadiq from twelver sources, that prove mahgrib to be immedietly after sunset. Also there are actual twelver schoalrs, although a minority, that do argue for mahgrib to be at sunset. So I wanted to ask if thats alos seen as a valid opinion within zaydism? Is rhere difference of opinion? Are there any authentic proofs within the zaydi sources that do put forward an argument for it to be immedietly after sunset?
Jazakallah

Salam Alaikum,
The Twelvers and Zaydis do not necessarily have the same evident time of Maghrib.
According to Al-Bahr, there is consensus regarding Maghrib taking place at sunset. However, it also says that Imam al-Haadi, upon him be peace, states that sunset is evident by the appearance of a star, and other imams, such as Imam Zayd, upon him be peace, state that sunset is evident by means of darkness.
The beginning time for the Maghrib prayer is sunset, and this is confirmed by the appearance of a star from among the stars of the night. - [ Al Tajreed ]
The sign of the entry of night is the appearance of darkness from the eastern direction, the appearance of light on the face of the moon, and the sighting of a star in the northern half of the sky. If any one of these is observed, then night has entered.
علامة دخول الليل أن يظهر السواد من جهة المشرق، وظهور نور وجه القمر، ورؤية كوكب من النصف الشمالي للسماء. فإذا وُجد واحد من هذا فقد دخل الليل.
- Sayyid Abdullah Muhammad Awad
The Sheikh means the Time of Maghrib by 'Night'.
The Twelvers and Zaydis agree that Maghrib start at sunset, but even our Scholars and Imams have disagreed on what is the evidence that the sun has set and the time of Maghrib has started.

Thanks for your response.
So would it be ok for me to choose to follow the opinion that magrib prayer is immediately after sunset and so read and break my fast at that time? Seen as there is a difference of opinion and authentic narrations from imam Jafar al sadiq AS that insinuate this aswell…. Also when I say immediately after sunset, I mean my local sunni masjid given time.
jazakallah

Imam Zayd ibn Ali, Ahmad ibn Isa, Ali ibn Musa, a number of jurists, and Imam Yahya ibn Hamza. Their view is that the earliest time for Maghrib prayer begins when the disk of the sun completely sets, which is known by its disappearance behind the horizon.
Though this opinion is valid, you must then also follow the Fiqh of one of these Imams and you cannot simply choose this opinion out of ease.
