Asalamulakyum,

JazakAllah brother for the informative information! Question regarding the imamate of Imam Hassan (as). Was he chosen by shura or did Imam Ali (as) choose him to lead after him without consultation of the community? I came by this hadith when Imam Ali (as) was consulted regarding his son's succession to the caliphate: "I neither command you nor prohibit you from electing my son." JazakAllah,

Imams al-Hasan (as) and al-Hussein (as) were chosen by Allah via the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny. The Prophet was reported to have said: ((The two of them are imams--whether standing or sitting. And their father is greater than them)).
