Matam

Hi, I have seen Matam is prohibited according to the zaydiya which I agree with as I have never understood it growing up as a twelver. However I wanted to see what the evidences are for its prohibition from both zaydi and imami sources if possible or even some imami scholars speaking against it.
Your help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Salam Alaikum,
One of the proofs of the Zaydiyyah is the following hadith:
النبي ﷺ أنه قال: «ليس منا من حلَقَ ولا من سَلَقَ، ولا من خَرَقَ، ولا من دَعَا بالوَيْلِ والثُّبُورِ».
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"He is not one of us who shaves (his head in mourning), who wails loudly, who tears his clothes, or who invokes doom and destruction."
From the proofs of the Twelvers :
1. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "O Ali Whoever obeys his woman Allah(swt) would throw him upon his face in the fire.” So Imam Ali said: ”And what (kind of) obedience to her (wife) ? Prophet, peace be upon him, said : ”He gives permission for her in going to bath houses, and weddings/celebrations, and mournings, and wearing the transparent clothes.” - Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih by Sheikh Saduq
2. SERMON 235: Spoken when Amir al-mu’minin was busy in the funeral ablution (ghusl) of the Holy Prophet and shrouding him.
May my father and my mother shed their lives for you. O’ Messenger of Allah! With your death the process of prophethood revelation and heavenly messages has stopped which had not stopped at the death of others (prophets). Your position with us (members of your family) is so special that your grief has become a source of consolation (to us) as against the grief of all others; your grief is also common so that all Muslims share it equally. If you had not ordered endurance and prevented us from bewailing we would have produced a store of tears and even then the pain would not have subsided and this grief would not have ended and they would have been too little of our grief for you. But this (death) is a matter that cannot be reversed nor is it possible to repulse it. May my father and my mother die for you; do remember us with Allah and take care of us. - Nahj ul Balagha
3. Ali was passing by a place when he saw some women crying over the dead. Meanwhile, the chief of that tribe came into his presence. Ali became displeased with him and said, “Do you not have authority even over these women, that you cannot stop them from wailing?” - Nahjul Balagha Part 3 page 745 Irshad 322
4. Prophet, peace be upon him, said to Fatima that after my demise do not cry and do not harm your face - Hayat-ul-quloob , vol:2 , bab:63 , pg:1008
