Stars and Stones

Q : Do we wear Aqeeq to emulate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and Maula Ali, peace be upon him, or is it really so that stones and stars have power over us?

A : Imam Yahya bin Al-Husayn (AS) said that the Prophet (SAWS), Imam Ali (AS), Imam Al-Hasan (AS) and Imam Al-Husayn (AS) wore rings on their right hands. Imam Ali Ar-Rida (AS) also said that his father Imam Musa Al-Kathim (AS) wore a ring on his right hand.

from Ali (peace be upon him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: ((Wear a ring of Carnelian (Aqeeq); for indeed, no one among you will be afflicted by sorrow as long as he wears it)) - {Al-Mukhtar min Sahih Al-Ahadith wa Al-Athar}

And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: ‘Seal (your rings) with Aqeeq, for it repels poverty, and good fortune is more deserving of adornment.’ - [Taysīr al-Maṭālib fī Amālī Abī Ṭālib}

The Prophet (SAWS) clearly instructed to wear rings made from 'Aqeeq/Carnelian stone.

Sayyid al-ʿAllāmah ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-ʿAjrī said : "It is prohibited to consult astrologers and to believe what they say, and whoever goes to them and believes them is considered a disbeliever.” -  [Miftāḥ al-Saʿāda]
